Happy New Year Tribe,

Welcome to 2018 on behalf of the ZURII team.

So…we are all back into it.

No more holidays, wine in the sunshine or planning how we are going to kick a**e this year. Come on, hands up. Who else made a vision board in early January?

It’s now time to start kicking that a**e we talked about and come good on those New Year’s resolutions.

Personally, I made a commitment to manifest my dream ticket of Oprah and Michelle Obama for the 2020 Presidential election. I really need to get my skates on (it seemed so possible three wines in!).

Speaking of wine, I had the chance to reflect on 2017 over a few glasses recently. Those who followed our journey closely last year will know it was a massive year for ZURII. We really shook things up and stepped up to a new level.

While everything looked pretty from the outside, the reality was very different. It was worse than the swan paddling furiously under the water. This swan felt like she was upside down with her head under the water for a big chunk of it.

So in the spirit of honesty, because that’s what we are all about here, I thought I'd share the three biggest lessons I learnt last year and how they will shape what you see from ZURII in 2018.

  1. IT'S ALWAYS DARKEST BEFORE THE DAWN
This is one of my favourite sayings and I’ve found it to be true so many times. There were moments last year when it looked like my dream of bringing you these beautiful pieces was about to go up in smoke. I’m talking delayed production, missed deadlines and more broken promises than I can count.

I remember repeating this quote several times when things were at their most difficult. I knew if I kept fighting and refusing to give up, good things would eventually happen. Action and momentum create results.

  1. I'M MORE RESILIENT THAN I REALISED
I like to think I’m pretty determined but what I didn't know was how far I'd go to fight for my vision for ZURII. I’m talking sobbing and snot bubbles, sitting on the floor trying to take the emotion out of a business decision about weather we should walk away from our new relationships in Spain.

Logic said yes, but my heart said no. I realised analysis and cold hard facts are great, but sometimes big changes can't happen unless you are prepared to put yourself and your heart on the line. Passion can trump logic.

  1.  SOMETIMES THE UNIVERSE GIVES YOU WHAT YOU NEED, NOT WHAT YOU WANT
This one has only become obvious over the last month. The battle we went through to get the ESTILO Collection to you made me get very clear, very quickly, on the compromises I was and wasn’t willing to make. On what ZURII stands for, and what I believe you as our Tribe and customers deserve. Yes, I will delay production to make sure we use the best quality zips available. No, I will not accept anything just short of perfect.

It was hellish at the time, but it resulted in a collection that I know hand on heart is everything we say it is. Stylish, luxurious, incredibly well made and ethically produced. I am so proud of that.

So what’s next for ZURII? What can you expect from us in 2018?

The answer is more of the same, on a bigger scale. New products are already in development, including pieces for your ZURII Man. Hopefully in a few months time you will also be seeing your favourite pieces in a boutique near you.

I can also promise my ‘Unfiltered’ blogs will continue to share the laughs and the drama from behind the scenes. We want you to be part of the whole ZURII, not just the pretty bits from Instagram.

We are a label for real women (who love a bit of luxe), so we promise to be real with you.

P.S. The second issue of ZURII Woman will be hitting your Inbox at the start of Feb. Keep a look out.
